We're excited to be preparing for the first annual Gondwana Green Day Out, an exciting business and community tree planting day in the Northern Rivers!
And we'd love for you to come along and plant some trees with us.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The rainforests of the Northern Rivers, which were once extensive and thriving, now exist in small pockets across the region. We're committed to changing that.
By planting 500 trees along a creek bank that runs through this property in Mullumbimby, we will restore a section of riparian rainforest which was historically cleared for cattle grazing. Freshwater systems in agricultural areas have been degraded through the management mistakes of the past and this is a chance to showcase the magic that occurs when a degraded creek is planted out.
This will not only contribute to the restoration of a vital sub-tropical rainforest habitat, but also has the potential to improve local flood and climate resilience.
We've carefully selected specialist rainforest trees for this site that will actively initiate the repair of the creek bank, and ultimately the creek bed. The interwoven root systems of these trees will support the bank and cause the water to run cleaner, clearer, and deeper within a decade; this effect measurably compounds positively with each decade that follows.
Wildlife returns and natural balance is restored in one of the most satisfying processes to witness in land regeneration.
But to make this happen, we need the help of wonderful volunteers like you. Can we count on you being there? RSVP here.
